1. Who we are
Books is run by Intrithm Technologies Private Limited , 4-2/2, Teachers Colony, Vilangudi, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India – 625018 . For your personal data we act as the "Data Fiduciary" under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). This policy also follows the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.
2. What we collect
When you request access
Your name, shop name, type of shop, phone number, email, shop address (optional), preferred language and any message you write.
For your account
Your name, login email, password (stored only in scrambled, "hashed" form — nobody can read it, including us), your language and your shop's name, address and phone.
What you enter while using Books ("Shop Data")
Products and prices, bills, expenses and expense categories, other income and notes. This is your business information. Books does not ask for your customers' names or phone numbers on bills.
Technical information
Your IP address and basic browser details are used to keep Books secure — for example to limit repeated form submissions and to investigate misuse. We do not use advertising or social-media tracking tools. Inside the app (after you log in) we use no analytics at all.
Payments
Payments for Books Pro are processed by Razorpay, a payment partner licensed in India. Razorpay receives the amount and an order reference, plus your name, email and phone to pre-fill its form when you pay from inside the app. On its payment page you give Razorpay the email and phone it needs; it shares those with us so we can attach the payment to your shop (or reach you if you pay before finishing sign-up). We receive only the payment status, amount, plan, payment method type (for example UPI or card) and a reference number — never your full card number, CVV or UPI PIN. Razorpay's own privacy policy applies to the details you enter on its payment page.
3. Why we use it
- To review your access request and contact you by phone or WhatsApp about it — this is why you give consent on the request form. If you pay for Pro when signing up, to create your account at once.
- To create and run your account, show your data back to you and keep it backed up.
- To give support when you ask for help.
- To tell you about important changes to Books, these policies or your plan — for example when Pro is about to end.
- To keep Books secure, prevent fraud and meet our legal duties.
We do not use your data for any other purpose without asking you first. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
4. Cookies and storage in your browser
Inside the app, Books uses only essential cookies — the ones needed to log you in and keep your session secure.
On our public pages (the home page, pricing, feature and shop pages, these policies and the Get Pro page) we ask before using Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people visit, from which kind of device and roughly where (city level), so we can see what helps shop owners. It is loaded only if you tap Allow; if you tap No thanks, nothing is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. You can change your choice any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every public page. Google processes this data for us under its own terms (Google Privacy Policy); we do not use it for ads.
| Name | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
books-session | Keeps you logged in while you use Books and remembers your language. | Until you log out or 120 minutes of no use |
XSRF-TOKEN | Security: protects your forms from being sent by other websites. | Same as above |
remember_web_… | Keeps you logged in on your phone if "Remember me" is ticked. | Up to 5 years, or until you log out |
_ga, _ga_… | Google Analytics, public pages only and only after you tap Allow: tells visits apart. | Up to 2 years |
| Browser storage | Saves your Allow / No thanks choice for Google Analytics, saves an unsaved bill if the page reloads, your light/dark choice, and whether you closed the "Add to home screen" tip. Stays on your device. | Until cleared |
5. Who we share it with
- Service providers who help us run Books — cloud hosting, backups, payments (Razorpay) and, only if you allow it on our public pages, website analytics (Google Analytics). They may use your data only to provide their service to us, under contract.
- The law: when required by a court order or a lawful request from a government authority in India.
- If our business changes hands, your data may move to the new owner, who must keep protecting it under this policy.
Our team members can see account and Shop Data only when needed to run Books, fix problems or help you, and they are bound to keep it confidential.
6. Where your data is kept
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers. If any provider stores data outside India, we use them only as allowed under the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India.
7. How long we keep it
- Access requests: while we review them, then up to 12 months so we can answer follow-up questions; then deleted.
- Account and Shop Data: for as long as your account is active.
- After you close your account: 90 days so you can ask us for a copy of your data, then deleted from the live system. Backups roll over and are cleared within a further 30 days.
- Payment records: up to 8 years, as tax and company law require.
Remember that you may need to keep your own business records for longer under GST and tax laws — download your reports (Pro) or ask us for a copy of your data before closing your account.
8. How we protect it
- All traffic to Books is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Passwords are hashed; we never store them in readable form.
- Every shop's data is kept separate, and one shop can never see another shop's data.
- Access to our servers is limited to people who need it.
- If a data breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
- Ask us to correct, complete or update it.
- Ask us to delete it, unless we must keep it by law.
- Withdraw your consent at any time (this will not affect what was done before, but we may no longer be able to provide Books).
