No desktop. No monitor. No UPS. Your phone is the billing machine.
A computer at the counter is ₹30,000 before the first bill, then electricity, a UPS for power cuts, a technician for every update, and a table it never leaves. Books runs in the browser on the phone in your pocket: tap or scan to bill, note expenses, see today's profit, print on Bluetooth. Free to start.
Works in your browser — nothing to install.

What the counter computer really costs
Not just the ₹30,000. A computer brings its own small department to a shop that has one person at the counter.
Electricity all day
A desktop and monitor draw power from the first tea to the shutter, and die the moment the line drops.
A UPS, then UPS batteries
Power cuts mean a UPS; a UPS means batteries that need changing every two years.
Counter space
A monitor, a CPU box, a keyboard and a tangle of wires where the sweets and the cash tray were.
Updates at 9 am
Windows updates, antivirus pop-ups and a billing software that wants a renewal code during the morning rush.
A technician on call
Printer driver gone, mouse dead, virus from a pen drive: ₹500 a visit and a morning of no bills.
It never moves
Billing happens only where the computer is. Not at the door, not at the stall, not when you step out.
Everything the computer did, on the phone you already carry
- Billing
- Tap a product or scan its barcode. The total adds itself; Save gives the bill its number.
- Price list
- Change a price once on the phone; every new bill uses it, old bills keep theirs.
- Expenses
- Milk, gas, rent, wages: a few taps as you pay, in your own categories.
- Reports
- Today, this month, this year. Excel and PDF for the accountant (Pro).
- Printing
- Bluetooth 58 or 80 mm printer, paired once, prints after every save (Pro).
- Backup
- Already done. Your books live in the cloud, not on a hard disk under the counter.
Have a laptop already? Books opens there too, same login, nothing to install.
Straight answers before you start
Books is a website built for a phone screen: big buttons, the total and Save within reach of your thumb, and one small request per bill so it works on slow mobile data. A shop with 300 products searches by name or barcode instead of scrolling, which is faster than a mouse anyway.
If your shop grows into a second counter, add a laptop or a second phone with the same login. No licence per machine, no server in the back room.
What Books does not do (yet)
- A phone screen is small. Long product lists are searched, not scrolled through.
- Bluetooth printing works from Android phones and laptops in Chrome, not from iPhone yet.
- Books needs internet (mobile data or Wi-Fi) to save bills; there is no offline mode.
- No cash-drawer kick, no card-swipe machine: a UPI QR stand on the counter does the job.
Questions shop owners ask
Can a phone really replace the billing computer?
For a small shop, yes. Bills, products, expenses, reports, barcode scanning and Bluetooth printing all run in the phone browser. The one thing a computer adds is a bigger screen, and Books works on a laptop too if you have one.
What happens in a power cut?
Your phone keeps working on its battery and mobile data. A computer needs a UPS to survive even a flicker.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open books.intrithm.com in Chrome or Safari and log in. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.
Can I print bills without a computer?
Yes. Books prints to 58 mm and 80 mm Bluetooth thermal printers straight from an Android phone or a laptop (Books Pro, 30 days free). iPhone cannot talk to Bluetooth printers from the browser yet.
I already have a laptop. Can I use it?
Yes. Books is the same website on a laptop, with a bigger screen and a USB or Bluetooth scanner if you have one. Nothing to install there either.
Is my data safe on a phone?
Your books are saved in the cloud, not on the phone. Lose or change the phone, log in on the next one, and everything is there.
