Straight answers before you start

What Books does not do (yet)

  • No stock counts and no low-stock alerts yet.
  • No credit (udhaar) book.
  • No weighing-scale connection: make products for fixed amounts instead.
  • Books does not file GST returns or make e-invoices; GST bills themselves are part of Pro.

Questions shop owners ask

How do I bill packed goods?

Give each product its barcode once (scan it in Products). On a new bill, tap Scan and hold the packet up to the phone: it is added with your price, with a beep.

What about rice, dal or oil sold loose?

Make products for the amounts you sell, such as Rice 1 kg or Oil 500 ml, and tap them. Books does not connect to a weighing scale.

I already have a USB barcode scanner. Can I use it?

Yes. Plug it into the laptop at the counter, open a new bill and scan; Books picks up the code without any setup.

Can Books keep my customers' credit (udhaar)?

Not yet. Books tracks bills, expenses and profit. A credit book is not part of it today.

Does it reduce stock when I sell?

Not yet. Stock tracking is planned. Today Books keeps your product list and prices.

Do I get a GST invoice?

Yes, with Books Pro. Enter your GSTIN in Settings and choose regular GST or composition: bills then print as a Tax Invoice with CGST and SGST, or as a Bill of Supply. Each product carries its own GST rate, and prices stay GST-inclusive.
